Onyx Software Announces Strong Preliminary Q3 Results
Management Changes Also Announced

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Onyx® Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ONXS) worldwide leader in successful CRM, today announced preliminary financial results for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2002. For the third quarter of 2002, the company expects to report revenue in the range of $18.5 million, including license revenues of approximately $7 million.

Pro forma operating results, excluding amortization of intangibles and any restructuring charges, are expected to be in the range of break-even to slight profitability. The company expects to report final results later this month.

"We continue to compete for and win business from both new and existing customers based on our ability to deliver successful, cost-effective CRM," said Brent Frei, CEO and co-founder of Onyx Software. An existing customer expanded its Onyx deployment in the third quarter with a purchase that exceeded 10 percent of revenue. "Our aggressive focus on expense control, coupled with strategic investments in marketing and sales, has allowed us to make progress in managing our business toward profitability."

The company also announced today that Leslie Rechan, president and chief operating officer, will leave Onyx effective Oct. 4, 2002, to pursue other opportunities. Frei has reassumed the responsibilities previously held by Rechan. The company does not intend to fill the COO role at this time.
