November 19, 2001 Suncorp-Metway Selects Onyx Software to Drive Improved Efficiency and Enhanced Customer Service One of Australia's Largest Banks and Insurance Companies Will Use Complete Suite of Onyx Software
BELLEVUE, Wash. - Onyx® Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ONXS), a global supplier of customer relationship management (CRM) enterprise applications, has been selected by Suncorp Metway, Australia's second-largest general insurance company and sixth largest bank, to improve efficiency and enhance customer service. The company cited functionality, scalability and integration capabilities as prime drivers in choosing Onyx over other vendors.
"The integrated Onyx tool will give us a reliable sales process across all distribution channels and provide a superior customer experience regardless of contact channel," said Paul Smeaton, director of the Allfinanz program for Suncorp Metway. "It's a win for our customers because they get a better experience, and it's a win for us because we get the operational efficiencies."
Suncorp Metway will use a phased approach in implementing the CRM solution, first rolling out the Onyx Employee Portal to Suncorp Metway's 130-strong retail branches and 500-person call center network in February 2002, followed later by business banking. Approximately 2,000 employees will begin using Onyx software at that time.
Follow-on phases currently planned include rolling out the Onyx Customer Portal for Internet-based customer contacts, and the Onyx Partner Portal for brokers and other partners.
Suncorp Metway has plans to potentially expand into 40-plus additional distribution outlets, so the ability to grow with the business was important, as was integration and functionality. The company has used more than 20 product systems, which means pulling and updating customer information from all the disparate data sources could be a labor-intensive, error-prone process. Each distribution channel has used various standalone tools, different reporting systems and assorted sales processes, giving customers a varied experience depending on the channel they use.
"The Onyx functionality and ease of integration will give our sales personnel a complete customer snapshot, including the product portfolio and contact management history, no matter who takes the call," said Smeaton. "Scalability was also one of the key things we were looking for, and we purchased Onyx with that in mind."
Formed in 1996 from the merger of three of Queensland's largest financial institutions, Suncorp Metway today is Australia's sixth-largest bank and second-largest general insurance company, with total assets of more than $Aus 31 billion. As an Allfinanz group, the Group is one of Australia's most diversified financial services providers, offering banking, insurance, and investment products to 3.5 million customers through an extensive distribution network. Suncorp Metway is also a market leader in home insurance, car insurance, compulsory third party insurance (CTP) and deposits in Queensland. The Group is one of Australia's 25 biggest listed companies and the largest listed corporation in Queensland, with a sharemarket value of around $Aus 6.4 billion.
