Jul 8, 99 Onyx Software Continues Expansion in Asia-Pacific Region
New Office, Partners and Expanded Senior Leadership are Already Winning Customers
Bellevue, WA -- Onyx Software (NASDAQ: ONXS) today announced a range of activity in the Asia-Pacific region that continues to strengthen its position as a leading Web-based customer relationship management (CRM) software vendor. Onyx Software has doubled the number of people in its Asian hub in Singapore, established an office in Hong Kong, hired a general manager for Australia and New Zealand, signed a number of notable new customers and partners and established a 24x7 support infrastructure in the region.
Onyx Recruits Senior Talent
Onyx Software's new hires in key senior positions in Asia Pacific bring proven experience managing leading software enterprises. In Australia and New Zealand, Onyx Software has hired a Sydney-based managing director, Mark Camilleri. Camilleri will lead the company's continued rapid expansion in the CRM market in that region. Camilleri brings senior leadership experience and a proven track record of managing rapidly-growing businesses in the enterprise applications software market. He comes to Onyx from his position as director for the Asia-Pacific region with SPL Worldgroup. Prior to that role, Camilleri was managing director at Siebel Systems Australia. With a sales, marketing, technical support, and services infrastructure in place, Camilleri will build on Onyx Software's current position as a market leader in Australia.
Ted T.C. Cheng, a known leader in the greater Chinese software market, will lead a newly established full-service operation serving the greater China region, in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong operation, with full sales, marketing and technical support capabilities, will allow Onyx Software to better serve pan-Asia and multi-national customers throughout the region. Cheng comes to Onyx from his position as area sales manager of Hong Kong and China for Oracle. He has more than 16 years of sales and marketing experience in the software industry, including significant experience marketing and selling enterprise software applications to all types of industries in the region. Onyx Hong Kong adds to an existing Onyx hub in Singapore, which was established in 1997.
Major Partners Signed
Onyx Software Asia recently signed partnership agreements with Arthur Andersen, Cap Gemini, KPMG, and SPL Worldgroup to strengthen its distribution and implementation channels.

"These systems integration partners will complement Onyx Software's own consulting expertise. By sharing best practice knowledge and a deep understanding of our technology, our partners will deliver successful implementations that result in quick return on investment," Hawk said.
Customers Choose Onyx for Customer Relationship Management
Onyx Software recently has added a number of new customers in the Asia-Pacific region. Its Web-based Onyx Front Office product suite has allowed New Zealand's first complete phone and Internet-based bank, BankDirect, to increase the efficiency of customer information, introduce greater Web functionality for customers and built a platform for future growth.
BankDirect's Call Centre account managers use Onyx Front Office 24 hours a day, seven days a week to maximize sales opportunities for financial products such as savings accounts and loans. In addition, Onyx Front Office is used for customer service functions. The system is also used for marketing automation, profiling and literature fulfillment functions.
Onyx Front Office has been integrated with other BankDirect mission critical applications, such as credit checking systems which allow BankDirect's Call Center staff to easily provide complete and accurate information while working with customers. The Onyx implementation also includes online loan application processing via a Web interface that enables customers to track the status of their loan application online. "The Web implementation will give a lot more control to the customer," said BankDirect Technology Manager Derek Redman. "It's all about customer acquisition and the sales process. We are a direct sales organization. We're selling financial products - savings accounts, loans - and we want to make that as easy as possible for our customers and Onyx helps us do that."
Other new Onyx customers in the Asia Pacific region include Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Cable Vision, Opus IT (an IBM joint venture company in Singapore), CyberWay, AEA International SOS, Singapore Telecom, Pan Global Insurance, Inchcape Motors, Amway Australia ,Colonial First State and Southern Cross Healthcare NZ.
