Onyx Software and Onyx Customers Receive Top Awards for Excellence in Use of Customer Relationship Management
Companies Use Onyx to Sell More and Increase Customer Satisfaction

Bellevue, WA- Onyx Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ONXS), a global provider of customer-centric e-business applications, today announced it has been awarded a User's Choice Gold Award for sales force automation. The second annual User's Choice Awards, presented by Customer Support Management magazine and RealMarket, is the only award program in which end users judge customer relationship management (CRM) products.

"It's exciting to win an award that is predicated upon end-user experience with our products," said Eben Frankenberg, Onyx Software senior vice president, sales and marketing. "The single biggest risk in sales force automation projects is lack of adoption by users. You could pack every known feature into a sales force automation product but you're doomed if reps won't use it. We have built our software to reduce the risk of project failure by focusing on the user experience. This User's Choice Award underscores our success at delivering a product that not only has the features needed by large complex organizations but that provides value to users that incents them to use it."

The awards announced today come on the heels of the Microsoft-sponsored Industry Solution Award finalist announcements last month, in which Onyx customers' successful CRM projects led to its being named a finalist in three separate categories, more than any other vendor. Results will be announced later this month at COMDEX.

Numerous Onyx customers across industries have received recognition recently for best practices in customer relationship management. These include:

  • ASB Bank. ASB Bank has been an Onyx customer since Oct. 1998 and is currently deploying Onyx to their branch network and their Internet banking subsidiary Bank Direct to manage interactions with customers both online and off-line. An annual survey of banking satisfaction in New Zealand, conducted by Auckland University's business school, revealed that 79 percent of ASB customers are happy, with only 6 percent dissatisfied. This is the top satisfaction level among all New Zealand banks. Compare it to the market leader, Westpac Trust. Twenty-nine percent of Westpac customers are considering changing banks (a significant majority of whom said they would move to ASB Bank).

     

  • Neighborhood Health Plan. Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP), which serves more than 112,000 members in the Boston area, was named to the 2000 CIO 100, a distinction reserved for companies using customer relationship management to forge enduring partnerships with customers. NHP was one of only three health care companies named to the list. Using Onyx as its CRM platform, NHP has streamlined the membership process, cutting enrollment time by 50 percent.

    "Onyx has contributed to significant improvements in our clinical systems where we have achieved significant reductions in referral processing and call wait times," said Craig Johnson, chief information officer, Neighborhood Health Plan.

     

  • ByeByeNow.com. Onyx has been selected as a finalist in the first ASP Industry Consortium ASPire Awards program in recognition of ByeByeNOW.com's Onyx deployment. The ASPire Awards highlight best practices in the application service provider (ASP) industry. ByeByeNOW.com, a leading Internet provider of vacation travel, uses a hosted Onyx platform to power the ByeByeNOW.com travel network. The network includes more than 500 independently-owned travel stores, in excess of 2,000 agents and a centralized call center. ByeByeNOW.com has experienced dramatic benefits since implementing Onyx, including increased efficiency and higher revenues from improved service and sales. The Consortium will name the winner in an awards ceremony at COMDEX in Las Vegas on November 14, at which time the Microsoft-sponsored Industry Solution Award winners will also be announced, where ByeByeNOW.com's use of Onyx is being highlighted in the Best Customer Relationship Management Portal category.

     

  • Timberline Software. Timberline Software was recently awarded a STAR Award for Most Improved software support organization from the Software Support Professionals Association (SSPA). Timberline uses Onyx enterprise-wide, including in its service and support departments. Using Onyx, Timberline has been able to consolidate customer information and provide customers with a seamless experience whenever and however they choose to interact with the company.
