Onyx Software Unveils Portable CRM
Product Line Includes New Release of Onyx Employee Portal - Offline Edition for Laptop-Equipped Mobile Professionals

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Onyx® Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ONXS)), worldwide leader in customer relationship management (CRM), today unveiled Onyx Portable CRM, a family of products that brings the power and flexibility of Onyx CRM to mobile professionals. With Onyx Portable CRM products, mobile professionals can access the Onyx Enterprise CRM application through a broad range of portable computing and wireless devices, enabling them to manage customer interactions, sales opportunities and service and support incidents and tasks on the device of their choice. Onyx also announced the general availability of the latest addition to the Onyx Portable CRM product family, Onyx Employee Portal - Offline Edition 4.5, a solution that provides mobile professionals access to critical customer information via their laptops.

Unlike competing solutions, Onyx Portable CRM products do not require added software on the device. The products feature thin, browser-based clients that can be automatically deployed and updated from a standard URL. They have similar interfaces and capabilities, allowing users to seamlessly transition between the Onyx solution running on a corporate network and the user's portable device of choice. Onyx has packaged the Portable CRM products into a single offering that customers can purchase as a bundle, allowing them to utilize all of the Portable CRM products for a single fee. As a result of the unique product design and simplified licensing approach, both the initial deployment costs and long-term support costs are designed to be significantly lower than other mobile offerings on the market today.

"Today with high speed connections widely available, the remote sales representative has equivalent access capabilities as their corporate housed, networked counterparts. Field sales reps are truly disconnected only when out of their office moving between sales calls. As a result, organizations may need to analyze the functionality and cost tradeoffs necessary to meet the mobile requirements of the sales organization."

Onyx Portable CRM
The Onyx Portable CRM family of products offers options for every mode of access including:
  • Offline laptop access and data synchronization with the Onyx Employee Portal - Offline Edition (version 4.5 releasing today, June 24, 2003)
  • Real-time wireless access through handheld PDA devices, including Palm OS, PocketPC and Rim Blackberry, with the Onyx Employee Portal - Handheld Edition
  • Real-time wireless access through WAP-enabled devices, including mobile phones, pagers, two-way radios and smartphones, with Onyx Employee Portal - WAP Edition
Products in all three categories have similar interfaces and capabilities and mirror the online Onyx CRM solution that runs on a corporate network. All three mobile products offer one-click access to personalized client lists and high-priority tasks. Centralized CRM configurations and business rules are automatically applied in real time or during data synchronization, ensuring standardized business processes across devices, offline or online.

OEP - Offline Edition
The newly available Onyx Employee Portal (OEP) - Offline Edition delivers an intuitive, browser-based client for offline laptop access with data synchronization over an ultra-light mobile architecture. With flexible subscription services targeted data can be automatically brought down to the laptop for offline use. Mobile professionals also have the flexibility to select other information they want to take with them when they are disconnected from the corporate network. Background synchronization provides fast and reliable data updates. SFA functionality is always available offline, including one-click access to customer data, and features for sales opportunity management, task management and contact management.
