Sep 4, 00 Telstra Targets 49,000 Businesses with Onyx Software Hosted e-Business Offering
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Onyx Software Corp. (Nasdaq: ONXS), a global provider of customer centric e-business solutions, today announced that Telstra Corp. Ltd., Australia's leading telecommunications provider, has launched Netrading, a hosted offering built on the Onyx e-Business Engine. Initially targeted at 49,000 existing Telstra customers and their 700,000 employees, Netrading enables a wide range of online business transactions and customer interactions.
"We are extremely pleased to announce the rollout of Onyx as the platform for Netrading's innovative new offering," said Brent Frei, Onyx Software president and CEO. "Telcos around the world are scrambling to enhance customer loyalty and improve margins by developing value-added business services for existing customers. Netrading is at the forefront of the trend and we are excited to be a key partner and the primary technology backbone in an innovative offering of such scope and scale. We've built our software with hosting in mind and Telstra is the model for the way we envision our technology being deployed - as a platform for e-business."
Netrading was designed for businesses looking to develop an e-commerce capability to support their online sales and growth, according to Lawrence Paratz, Telstra Countrywide regional managing director. "The Netrading online community offers business a gateway to the global marketplace. Netrading is an exciting e-commerce development that enables regional businesses to transact with customers and suppliers globally."
Recent tax code changes were the catalyst for all Australian businesses to consider Web-based compliance solutions. The Netrading offering combines Telstra's solution to this business need with additional e-business offerings that enable regional businesses to link with other small and medium companies. Through Netrading, they can develop online sales and marketing plans, increase buying power, trade online, conduct direct mail campaigns and capitalize on franchising opportunities. Companies will have access to Web hosting of online catalogues, Internet storefronts, online payment systems, relationship management capabilities, online customer and transaction trend reports, online trading communities and Internet access.
A revolutionary aspect of the Netrading network is the ability it provides businesses to share and pass customer data beyond their corporate walls, exponentially increasing the customer relationship value as additional businesses integrate into the network. Onyx is the underlying platform and Onyx Employee Portal is the primary merchant interface for the Netrading offering, giving users access to their e-commerce Web site, back-end systems and day-to-day customer interactions and transactions, all in one place.
"These are typically the building blocks that small to medium businesses don't even get," said Dirk van der Gaag, general manager of Telstra's e-business solutions division. "What a large enterprise has as their information technology infrastructure, we bring to the table as a fully hosted option."
The Netrading offering is built for the Web using Microsoft technology. "Customers are demanding a new generation of dynamic, collaborative e-business solutions such as the one Telstra, Onyx Software, and WebGroup have developed using Microsoft technology", said Dwight Krossa, director of ASP marketing, Microsoft Corp. "Our guiding principles have always been about empowering individuals and creating opportunities for the industry and we are pleased to see that our partners are leveraging our Windows platform to build more value for their customers'
