Onyx Software Acquires Portal Technology Leader Versametrix

Onyx extends lead in Internet portal market with addition of leading edge technology vendor

Bellevue, WA- Onyx Software Corporation (Nasdaq: ONXS), a leader in Internet Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions, today announced the acquisition of Versametrix Corporation, a developer of leading-edge Internet technology in the emerging corporate portal market. This acquisition extends Onyx Software's technology lead in delivering e-Business solutions by expanding its front office portal product offering to include a comprehensive, browser-based personalization framework and a 100% Web-based business intelligence solution. Versametrix's technology provides Onyx customers' end users in sales, marketing, customer service and at the executive level added flexibility to personalize and access their "digital workplace" with their choice of customer data, third-party applications, public domain Internet content, and corporate knowledge in a single, Web browser interface. All Versametrix employees have been extended offers to join Onyx Software. Onyx issued 96,193 shares of Onyx Common Stock to Versametrix's shareholders and assumed $61,500 of Versametrix's debt in exchange for the entire equity interest in Versametrix.

Versametrix, based in Bellevue, Washington, is a leading technology provider in the corporate portal market and has been working with Onyx on joint development projects since 1998.

Versametrix's core product, netMetrix™, consists of highly configurable information cells that individual employees use to easily build personalized views of critical business information through their Web browser. In addition to their joint development work on Onyx Enterprise Portal, Onyx and Versametrix have also joined forces to deliver a business intelligence solution that will be announced later this quarter.

While corporate portals that have cropped up recently focus on enabling access to information from disparate systems across an organization, Onyx and Versametrix take the equation one step further by offering an award-winning CRM application along with the personalization framework. Using Onyx Enterprise Portal, front office employees and corporate executives can both access information and carry out transactions without aimlessly surfing the Web, launching browsers or toggling between applications. Onyx Enterprise Portal ships with embedded links to Internet content from third party sources, such as Go2Net, as well as links to third party applications like Trilogy and Expensable.com. A sales user who is planning a sales call, for example, can check product purchase history, check a support incident, schedule a sales call, invite other attendees via Outlook, send literature, access Web-based directions, make travel arrangements and submit expense reports all from Onyx Enterprise Portal. That same sales user can then review his/her pipeline, plan additional sales activities, and access commissions or order entry information stored in third-party systems all from the same interface.
