Oct 4, 00 Joint Onyx Software-Xevo Offering Lets ASPs Deliver on Promise of Faster Implementation
BELLEVUE, Wash. - Onyx Software Corp. (Nasdaq: ONXS), a global supplier of enterprise-wide, customer-centric e-business applications, today announced the completion of a jointly developed integration utility with Xevo Corp., a provider of infrastructure solutions for application service providers (ASPs), which will drastically shorten the implementation cycle, reduce the technical complexity of system integration and deployment, and simplify ongoing management processes for businesses wishing to deploy Onyx's software suite. The end result is faster return on investment (ROI) for both ASPs and their customer base.
Xevo has created a provisioning and usage-metering agent for Onyx software being deployed by ASPs, which automates the software implementation process and allows ASPs to track which customers are using the hosted software, when they are using it and for how long.
"This is the first time this kind of capability has been weaved into a customer relationship management product for ASPs," said Scott Bledsoe, newly appointed vice president for the Onyx global business development (GBD) and outsourced applications division, Onyx's rapidly growing ASP group. "Traditionally, IT professionals at ASPs have had to write code or enter information by hand to manage installation, and track usage and user security. With this new agent, the learning curve for those responsible for implementing the Onyx 2000 software suite is greatly reduced, and a significant amount of time saved managing the entire process. Now everyone throughout the value chain can begin seeing results and profits right away."
The profits ASPs stand to gain are significant. Analysts at IDC predict the market to nearly quadruple from $2 billion now to $7.8 billion in 2004. As the hosted model gains momentum, ASPs are struggling with seamless, cost-effective and time-conscious processes for adding and modifying services. Xevo's ASP Workbench, in combination with the Onyx-specific agent, greatly reduces the amount of time it takes to have customers up and running on the Onyx platform.
