The Onyx architecture features physically separate Presentation Services, Business Services and Data Services.
Presentation Services The three audience-specific Web-based Onyx CRM Portals and the Onyx companion products comprise the presentation services of the Onyx architecture.
Business Services This is the primary location for customization and integration. The Business Services tier is where the Onyx Enterprise Application Server (OEAS) resides. OEAS is the data driven component-based framework that provides key services to the Onyx portals.
Data Services Within the Data Services tier live the Onyx Enterprise Database and Onyx Enterprise Dictionary. The Onyx Enterprise Database is Onyx's customer-centric data model that puts the customer at the center of your business, and helps you manage various touch points that relate directly to the customer. The Onyx Enterprise Dictionary is an XML dictionary that serves as metadata for the application server.
Workbenches The Admin Workbench and the Design Workbench flank The Onyx Internet architecture. Administrators and power users use the Admin Workbench on a day-to-day basis for system maintenance activities. The Design Workbench is used to configure CRM business objects that reside in the Onyx Enterprise Application Server.
